Keep Going! (aka Mountain Climbing is Good For Online Businesses!)

by on April 12, 2011

Keep going!

Just one of three things I want to share with you today.

All resulting from my recent Mountain Climbing escapade with Eldest Unmarried Tax Deduction.

Actually, I learned a lot more than three things … but in contrast to last week’s EPIC post on Lady Gaga, I decided to keep this one short and sweet. (Sort of like me!)

There were things like …

  • the importance of warming up before exercise;
  • that being an online marketer means that you spend WAY too much time sitting down;
  • that not all business lessons come from the business world;
  • when one’s daughter says, “Want to go for a walk?”, it’s wise to get some clarification!)

But these three are the most important …

So … what are you still doing here?
Go take a walk, dear heart!!

(Right after you’ve commented and shared this with your friends, of course!)

Till next time, dahlings.
Be well.
Be happy.
And above all,
Be YOU.

Bliss-ings,
the goddess known as Jacqui

Hi Jacqueline,
I did the same thing yesterday. My 6 year old figured out how to ride a bike just a few short weeks ago. We used to ride bikes every day, weather permitting. Last summer I had my nephews and couldn’t ride bikes. Showing on my back side!!

Anyway, we took a two mile bike ride through the park last night. I couldn’t walk well this morning. I love nature – it changes our perspective – it brings us peace of mind – for me it gives me time to be with family.

I always love hearing from you!

Tammy, you’re so right. Nature does change our perspective, especially those of us cooped up in front of a pc all day!

Hi Jacqueline,

I have to agree with you, as online marketers we spent way to much time in front of the computer screen.

I often take breaks and go outside and stretch and breath some fresh air. I find that I can think more clearly after my breaks.

Jacqui, I love you!

Your video was encouraging and made my face smile and my heart happy.

I thoroughly agree with you…taking a walk clears the mind. I have noticed the same thing so many times. I have become addicted to taking a walk. We’re finally getting spring here in WI too (though a bit later than in GA). I’m going to sit on the patio in the sunshine, so I’m doing all my writing this morning to get it done with. May go walk this evening too!

Thanks for great insights.

Good for you Jacqui!
Being in touch with the outdoors, clearing your head of all the incidental little things and connecting with the source. When I get all caught up in things and feel the walls closing in, I head outside. There’s a lovely park just down the road where I can sit along the stream and dream. 🙂

Wonderful Goddess Jacqui!!
Thanks for this all be it a little winded reminder to “get out and smell the roses!!”. You are so right, that there’s a glorious, big, wide and wonderful world outside our computer screens!! I spent the week playing with my little grandson Hunter who came to visit from (sunny) California and do you know what? it SNOWED here in Salt Lake City almost the entire week!! But we did have one gorgeous day when we were outside, around town, enjoying the sunshine and having lots of fun. The rest of the time we baked cupcakes, played games, took in a movie and (my favorite) built a race care that we got to paint together. It was all such fun. It really reminded me ( and I thought of us Goddess!) that we have purposeful time at our computers and on the phone, and we must MAKE TIME for the loved ones and ourselves to lavish that attention! The computer can eat you alive!

Jacqui, you’re too funny!!! It’s spring time here in NJ and I am so happy to be out and about. I’m wondering…did you have a harder time going down the mountain than going up? I know when I went hiking with my brother in NH one time, I am a city girl, you know and those people over there can, as you said, run up the mountain :), but I specifically remember that the hike down the mountain was very difficult, I suppose because I was so exhausted 🙂 And, also, my butt hurt so badly, that I couldn’t sit on it for days….lol
You are such a delight!!!!

Wise words, Jacqui!

“Stretching (your) physical muscles clears (the) head”

I’m a walker, and for quite some time, when I’ve something on my
mind…be it anger, confusion, a problem, whatever…I “walk it out”
rather than attempting to “work it out”.

There’s something almost magical about being outdoors and
listening to the silence.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Aloha Goddess,

Congratulations on climbing your mountain with your daughter! LOL! And yes, nature is the best to be around. We are so blessed to live in Hawaii and be surrounded by it all the time!

And yes, persistence is the key and mothers will do anything for their children!! LOL!

You are so awesome to do a video right after your climb and you still look so “Goddess-like”!

Aloha,
Kellie 🙂

Hi Jacqueline! I envy you so much. I never had another mother-daughter walk with my mom since I was in grade school. I really miss that. It inspired me a lot and made me feel I’m precious and loved. My parents are the real treasures that our Creator gave me. Thanks for letting me remember good memories!

I agree, sitting in front of a computer screen all day long is probably the most un-active thing to do since the TV was invented.

Absolutely Jacqui! A nature girl here indeed. Almost all of my writing is inspired by nature and gardening. I love the line in Hamlet, “I could be caged in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space,” (or something like that). I am now living with a friend of mine in his 1832 plantation house way out in the country. I love to just go and walk my dog around the property. I keep wondering how I ended up here. When the wisteria was blooming is was a sight to see. Walks are wonderful for getting oxygen back to your brain. Talk about a change in perspective – my whole life it different. Funny how things turn out.

You are right, i find myself locked in chains in my office and computer screen for hours-It’s almost like I’m married to my laptop:S sad but true… I tried to change things when I came across an article which talked about the existence of different kinds of energies that impact on your well being-you have the positive energies, the kind you get when you are in connection with nature and negative energies, the kind of claustrophobic feeling you get whenever you are locked somewhere or simply sitting and staring too much at a lifeless screen!

These pieces of advice were right on. We never seem to entertain the idea of talking a walk once in a while and having a break from our work. Probably because we’re always pressed for time. A change of environment from the working scene does help. Persistence, on the other hand, has been the trait of some of the most successful people. We’ve got to just keep on going. I mean, what’s the worse thing that could happen if we do?
