Releasing Your Inner Goddess

by on March 21, 2010

When doing my usual Google search for blogging material and inspiration, I found an article by Trish Hoskin, aptly titled “Your Inner Goddess”.

It was like listening to myself and without hesitation (actually so that I didn’t over-think this and back out!), I sent her an email requesting permission to reprint her article here. And the happy dance when she accepted was a sight to behold!

So here it is – my first ever guest post!

You are a truly powerful woman. Your soul knows it, and yet you have that self-doubt. Find out what your inner spirit, your inner Goddess knows, and wants to teach you.

What would happen if you let out your inner Goddess? What would your life look like? Would you suddenly grow to take up more space? And what effect would that have on your life. This is the question you will have to look at closely – and decide if you have the courage to expand yourself into that true, beautiful and honest expression of who you really are.

Let’s look at this. As females in Western society, we are taught to be small. We’re taught that women are pretty when they are tiny, don’t take up much room and are quiet. This is an unfortunate view and thankfully our society as a whole is taking another look at this idea. Rather than going on about why we are taught this, and isn’t it bad, etc, etc, let’s look at why we, as women, buy into it.

For many of us, love is conditional. In other words, we often feel we have to change who we are in order to receive love from others. We think that if we make sacrifices for others, they will love us, or accept, or like, or admire us. Isn’t that sad! Perhaps we haven’t given others a chance to see who we really are! And this is where the fear comes in to play – because what if you “give in” to your true expression and begin to feel fulfilled, joyful, and powerful – what if the ones we love, don’t love us anymore?

Stop reading for a moment and think about what your life would look like if you let your inner Goddess express herself. I know this may be scary, but know you’re in a safe space to do this – you can always go back to bottling her up! Just for a moment, go into the fantasy…..

Was that a scary experience for you? Are you surprised by the power and strength, the beauty, the colours, the dynamo of you? Did you feel excited and emboldened? Perhaps it will be good for you to spend more and more time envisioning this self-expression.

We need to talk about the paradox here – the paradox of your fear. You are afraid that if you do open yourself out, you’ll drive your loved ones away. The fact is, when you take the best care of yourself, you are then able to take the best care of others. Think about it. When you feel at peace, happy and joyful, you exude just that. You radiate those good feelings from within, out. Everyone around you is uplifted. On the other hand, when you are glum, surpressed and afraid, you cannot possibly give your best to others around you. It’s impossible.

So how, how, how!! can you let go of that fear and allow your inner Goddess or Spirit out? Begin by imagining your life as though she is you. For truly, you are she and she is you! This is the first step and I will be writing more ideas that I’ll invite you to try out. If the ideas don’t work for you, that’s OK. You will find another way that works for you. If the ideas do work for you, you will exist on a higher plane, you will reap the awards of your expression and you will feel your purpose course through your veins.

Very exciting stuff.

Not only are you exuding your inner hotness when you allow your inner Goddess to take charge, but you in turn are teaching your kids, love ones, people around you, that it’s OK to to feel good about yourself. It’s OK to take care of yourself and be your best. It’s OK to be happy with who you are and what you have. You are, therefore, shining your light on your love ones, and in the process, teaching them to shine theirs as well.

Very enlightening article, Goddess!

Thanks much for finding this and then, sharing it, Jacqueline – what a great article about releasing our true self and yes, it is time for us to do this and or keep doing this and I see more and more women allowing this this happen in their Lives. It makes me so happy to see how women really are seeing the importance of taking the time for themselves to do this, like yourself, while it also, encourages me to continue to release all the inner greatness that I know, I want to share with the world too.

I love that Photo of Grace Kelly, it is perfect for this article.

I adore this article! What a great mindset adjustment for when we’re struggling to remember we even HAVE an inner goddess much less what she looks like! What a great call to action to spend a moment getting reacquainted with her! This is a beautiful article and I’m glad you shared it dear Goddess!

That was an amazing article. Maybe you should allow some more guest blogging. It could relieve you of some time as I am sure a Goddess has a lot to do.
