Soooo, we’re one month into 2012, and this goddess’s life is changing rapidly.
Inner voice getting stronger and stronger as I listen to it.
And a major rethink of the labels I wear.
No, sweetie, not the ones on my clothes, *giggles*
the ones in my head!

After the Great Quitting in January 2010, when I was feeling soooo lost and small,
I wanted to change everything.
I figured that since what I was doing/thinking/being up till then wasn’t working,
it was time to stop doing it!
And above all, to stop BEING a small, ordinary person,
wallowing in mediocrity and smothered in unrealized dreams.
I searched and sought a new identity, a new ME.
I realized that the names labels I’d been using to describe myself to myself,
were for the most part, not serving me.
I began to focus on what I wanted to BE,
changing how I thought of myself.
I chose to become a goddess.
And in the following year, more and more people
began to believe I was what I believe I am.
Do you see the sparkly, life-altering magic in that, sweetie?
I know now, in the very depths of my soul,
that what you think about most,
what you call yourself most often,
is what you become.
And the bestest, most luscious part of this is …
YOU. CAN. CHOOSE.

It doesn’t matter.
All that matters is that you begin NOW
to believe,
right down to your pink-painted toes,
that underneath the
mom/wife/entrepreneur/office worker/retail associate label that you wear,
is a brilliant, sparkling, powerful being.
A queen.
A diva.
A goddess.

So true. Isn’t that called the law of attraction? Visualizing who you want to become? It’s worked for me many times but one has to realize that it takes time. It won’t happen overnight. I would say some changes take place after a year or so, so you’ve got to be patient. A lot of people don’t know this and they dismiss it as bs.
Yes, this definitely works – but it doesn’t always have to take a year. It all depends on how believable your goals are to you – the more you believe that you can achieve it, the faster it’ll happen

You KNOW how much this resonates with me. The idea of labels is exactly why I wrote Palaces and Calluses. The power of labeling yourself is profound. Choose a label and then step into it and become it.
Also, remember that the person you are when you make your next choice is not the same person. You cannot step into the same river twice. Even when things change for us or don’t go quite as expected, once we’ve chosen our labels, we go into the next experience as new people. The idea that we revert back to who we were before is a fallacy. We’re stronger now. We can choose to keep wearing a label or to put it aside and try a new one, but we have better discernment each time.
Your posts are very inspirational. I’ve recently been listening more and more to my inner voice. I know exactly what it’s been telling me for a long time however I couldn’t find a way to align what I truly want to do with what I have to do. This last week while brainstorming with a good friend of mine, I finally found a way to align the two. And I feel like I finally know the path that I’m suppose to take. I don’t just have an idea.. I have a real plan. This brings a lot of peace to my soul. Loved reading your blog.

Great and inspiring article. I agree that it all starts in believing in yourself and loving yourself. I’ve always wanted to earn an honest living without having to leave my family everyday and in the beginning it was really hard. Not a lot of people would offer work from home opportunities but I just kept working on it and never gave up. Today, job offers are starting to come and I’m living what I’ve always wanted.
