The Great DeCluttering Day 1

by on June 16, 2010

Day 2 of  my 30 Day Blogging Challenge and I’ve come to the conclusion that this needs a two-pronged approach.

Not only do I need to take Action each day to move myself Forward toward my goals, but I also need to Remove the Shackles that anchor me to my current Way of Being.

Too many Incompletions distract me when I’m supposed to be working – a blog half done because the washing machine needs unloading; dustbunnies mock me while I’m on conference calls.

These are the pitfalls of working from home and this goddess is Determined to balance her Empire Building with the demands of Domestic Goddess-hood.

And therefore the Great DeCluttering has begun – 7 days of picking up; putting away; clearing out and Finishing STUFF!

So this new adventure does not get weighed down with old Baggage, and I can see the vision of a New Me reflected in the clean, shiny surface of my desk.

Day 2 coming tomorrow – make sure you don’t miss it.

Dear Goddess,

I love this decluttering idea.
I have done it with a timer and it is amazing how much gets done is 10-15 minutes and the energy really starts to flow.
It makes a difference if you use a timer – it sets the energy in the prosperous direction.

Thank you for the awesome reminder and attractive video (I love your flowery apron), dear Goddess Jacqui!

Gratefully,
Venus 🙂

Ah yes, the timer. The Secret Weapon for anyone wanting to Really Focus and Get things DONE.

It is amazing how the flow of energy changes while you’re playing this game!

Changing our mindset to seeing things as a game – even very very important things – shifts our energies. That’s why I talk about “being in the game” when I’m business building. I’m either in the game or I’m bench sitting. Now sometimes bench sitting for a breather is necessary but if we don’t keep our heads in the game we wont prosper. However, thinking of it as a game keeps the energies forward focused and keeps us focused away from the “grind” of it all. It’s all in the mindset!

Aloha Jacqui,

This is always such a good exercise. I just did a huge cleaning out at the end of last year and it opened up huge doors of opportunity as I let go of “stuff” I wasn’t going to use and gave it to others who could use it. It was a very freely exercise.

Thank you for the reminder. It really is something to be done regularly.

Aloha,
Kellie 🙂

DeCluttering is always one of those things you put off till you Can’t Stand It anymore, and then when it’s done – usually in a Much shorter time than you thought it would! – you wonder why you waited so long to savor all that delicious S P A C E !

goddess what a great tip; I love it!!! That is exactly what I am going to do as soon as I put away the clean clothes that are in the laundry basket! : )~

You are exactly right when our environment is de-cluttered we function better and being a blue personality myself I can totally relate to the messy desk!

Keep it up and get on with your bad goddess-self!

My housekeeping … or lack there of… is where my blue tendencies speak out vocally! I’m so terribly prone to clutter! Also, like Jacquie said, even though I hate cleaning, my brain is less “busy” when I have an organized environment. Now just to talk myself into creating it!

Thank you for sharing these tips and inspiring me to look at the things that could be distracting me! (Too bad the hubby complained when I put him in the basket and tried to relocate him to the garage!)

So… tomorrow are you going to show us the clean desk?

Jacqui,
Great way to reinforce the idea of clearing out the old to make room for the new. Holding onto ideas or things may halt the learning process. What an amazing feeling when you let go of what you’ve been carrying around. Open, free space!

I have a closet to tackle this weekend. Woo Hoo it will be interesting,

You are so right….. decluttering does more than just clean up the room! Thanks for the reminder….think I’ll go check out a drawer or two that could use a little sorting!

Best,
Robin

You are adorable. Your idea with the timer is great ( used it with kids, maybe I should use it with the hubby too!! lol). Make a game of it… why didn’t I think of that!! Heavens knows I did it with the kidlets!! Time for me to play a game of declutter… And I have my timer right here too! Thanks for your passionate energy.
