The Power of Labels ~ When You Work For Yourself

by on February 2, 2011

aka The Boss

Obscure Reference Explained Below!

Nothing that I’ve done so far in my blogging career has had quite as much impact as last weeks’ post ~ The Power of Labels.

People have been moved to write to me, email me, and call me personally, and many more have mentioned on Facebook that they’ve  been galvanized into a complete reworking of their self-descriptions.

Obviously, this has struck a heart-chord with many of my Emerging Goddesses and Knights, and interestingly, most of the labels they felt an immediate need to address were those related to their work titles.

We had a lot of delicious discussions about this.

Now, dear hearts, I do agree that it can be awfully hard to own the label of 5 Pin Diamond Starfleet Commander when you’re still wearing the red shirt (Trekkies will totally get this reference!). It can feel a trifle fake, and the enormity of it becomes paralyzing rather than energizing.

But there is a title that you can own … right now … that will radically shift you into Uber Being-ness as far as your business is concerned.

Because, scrumptious ones, it’s totally and utterly True!

So, you hot mogul you, throw on that mantle of Goddess-in-Charge or Knight-in-Command and see how it feels.
Do you feel the energy?
Do you feel the shift in focus?

Of course you do! You’re the Boss!
(aaah see, told you I’d explain it lol)

Please let me know what you think about this, especially if you’re in business for/with yourself.
And Do share this, won’t you?

There are far too many MLM red shirts out there who need to know about the power of the labels they choose.

Bliss-ings, all you rockstars

Aloha Goddess Jacqui,

Oh, I love your label! I believe the Goddess already has such an exquisite sound to it. It almost demands respect with grace! And then to add the Jacqui to it, not Jackie, but Jacqui! Now that really adds a whole new delicate scene of “tea time” with our pinkies in the air sipping our tea cups.

Labels can be very empowering when we have people around us who truly see that we are “more than we think we are”! When we are surrounded by these people and we are “labeled” as such, we soon tend to believe what they see more than what we see! It’s an amazing process, then before you know it, we have reached that incredible “label” by just believing in someone else’s belief in us! It’s an amazing process!!

Thank you for sharing such a thought provoking post! You are truly the Goddess!

Much love,
Kellie 🙂

Aaah the Conviction is what makes it stick. Great awareness there, Holly dear.
I think I need to talk about that further in another post.

I agree that our self concept including our label has TONS to do with our overall mindset that accounts for our success in life and business. Great idea to get people thinking about what label they are applying to themselves. Thanks.

The power of labels is a great subject to expand on. I believe you have hit a cord of resonance within your readers. We many times give ourselves such limiting labels that going for the gold standard in labels will lift many out of that rut. Wonderfully, empowering thoughts to ponder,
Val 😉

Thank you, Val. Yes, I certainly seem to have found a lot of people that resonate with shedding labels allocated by outside forces and choosing ones that serve them.

Interesting how one person’s journey becomes everyone’s, isn’t it?

i love the idea of “labeling” myself rather than “branding” myself… i felt too much like a silly product or food snack when it came to branding but labeling i can handle! i want to be labeled as a fit mom and business owner so this week i will find a more succinct label to suit me!

thanks as always goddess, i always learn from YOU!

heeheehee I hadn’t thought of Branding that way but you’re so right!
Much better to own a Title or a Label ~ especially if that label is inspiring and admirable too.
Let me know what you come up with!

Aidan Gibson February 7, 2011 at 11:33 am

I completely agree. Your label makes or breaks you. If you have confidence in your business and if your business is a success then your answer would be more freely directed to a position of owning your business.

This kind of confidence comes from experience but also I believe that newbies in the network marketing game need to treat their business professionally. This shift in mindset is needed for success.

Sometimes when asked what I do, I throw the question back to the other person. This sometimes helps me to choose how I phrase and adapt my business to them. 🙂

Ah, the Power of our words is so far reaching! I agree that what we label ourselves can make a huge difference of how we see ourselves as well as how others see us. Having confidence behind your label speaks volumes as well. Maybe at first the confidence may not be there, but with thinking the right thoughts and speaking them will transform us.
Thank you for your enlightening post.
Blessings to you!

Wow what a powerful post. It is amazing how just changing how you introduce yourself and ultimately see yourself can effect how you feel about yourself and the dominoe effects from that.
Well done.

Goddess – Always a pleasure to watch you. I learn something every time!

The Label I choose for myself CEO – Chief Executive Optimist!!

I’m the CEO of Optimist Coaching! Do people even understand what an optimist is? Is that a word that people would be attracted to? Thought for the day I guess!!

Actually I’m the CEO of inspirational specialist coaching – but optimist coaching is a thought I might want to grab a hold of – your thoughts?

The slightest shift of attitude/focus can be the biggest trick in the book!! I love how you explain it here. Some people just make it too hard for themselves. It literally can be that simple!!

I also love the branding topic. Labeling and branding is very important to do for any business owner. I do SEO and marketing. Along with about 80 billion other people… LOL. I found a unique way to “label” my specific approach to seo and marketing. Without that label, I just get meshed with everyone else. With a label, I can stand out, even just a tad.

Great article, great delivery. I love your animated way of explaining things! It makes it fun to read 🙂

Have a great Friday!!
