(of course, this is true in life too, but we’re focusing on business this time, ‘kay?)
Actually, some would say it’s more important but I kinda feel that without the doing, beingness is lovely+vital but a tad too monk-on-a-hilltop passive for empire-building, know what I mean?
My coaching coach, Jeannette Maw always/often says, “alignment before action“, but that does imply that there’ll be some kind of action following the alignment.
Anyhoo, so, last week I sent out an email to the Lovelies on My List … subject line: “Perhaps You’d Like To Unsubscribe?”
Also published a post saying much the same thing … ie here’s my new direction +are you staying or going?
I was rather eye-wide-thrilled with the oodles of delicious responses I got, saying ‘no way, I’m in’ …
like this …
“Unsubscribe? ARE YOU MAD?? Yours is one of the few newsletters I haven’t rolled up into a daily email, just because I want to be sure I see it! And if you can tell me how to deal with my house in 15 minutes a day AND protect my energy level, well…just exactly what sort of insane would I have to be to wander off from that???” ~ N
AAAANND not a single opt-out.
I’ll say that again …
NOT A SINGLE OPT-OUT!
Ah-mazing and totally hug-yourself-delightful.
When I mentioned this last little tidbit on Facebook, I received a flurry of messages
“How’d you do that?”
“How do I create a ‘tribe’, so in sync + aligned that they open every email + stay for the long haul?”
Sweetie, it’s sooooo much simpler than the marketing-gods would have you believe.
It boils down to this …
Find your voice + speak up.
You see, when my mentor taught me many moons ago, to “look for the people who are looking for you”, she gave me a mantra that has shaped my business and my brand and my coaching career.
It all begins with your BEing.
Until you’re crystal clear on who you ARE + what you stand for + believe in + can do for the world, nobody knows that you’re what they’re looking for,
and until you step up + speak it out … nobody can find you anyway.
So many business goddesses rush into the DOingness … the making of websites + touting of products + handing out of business cards … but it comes with a fuzzy ‘off’ kinda energy and people pick that up (they’re smart that way) and they stay away in droves.
Or else they zen-out in the BEingness … all thinking and no action … and they wonder why no-one knocks on their door.
You have to do both …
Find your voice + then, speak up.
BEing then DOing
In that order. Got it?
Here’s how to start …
1. Take the time to uncover who you are + what you stand for + thatthingyoudo that makes the world a better place.
Half an hour a day dedicated to uncovery + questioning. Map out the world according to you. (here’s mine). Journal. Visualize. Write a manifesto-of-sorts. Turn inward and ask. And when you find the answers, trust them.
2. KNOW that there are people out there looking for exactly that.
Resonance. Out there is someone who wants/needs/can’t thrive without what you offer. It’s not everyone. It doesn’t have to be. You’re looking for people who are looking for you, remember? It’s all a game of Go Fish. Believe it.
3. Stand up + speak out + shine brilliantly so they can see you.
Like Seth Godin said, “How dare you settle for less when the world has made it so easy for you to be remarkable?”
It is easy, supernova. Ze interwebz has put everything you need to know at your fingertips. Google is your friend. There’s free content everywhere or you can just join Solo Masterminds and get a lifetime’s worth on online-licious training. Easy.
4. Once they find you, they’ll probably never leave.
“This chick’s staying right the heck where she is. :)” ~ N
THIS is attraction marketing. This is bliss-filled-business-building.
It takes time + work + skill-building.
It takes devotion + resilience + dog-with-a-bone persistence.
It takes all this and more.
And it’s oh, so worth it.
And for us.
